style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">Phew, it has been a very long time, hasn’t it? Ever since I joined Yahoo!, I have found myself finding more and more and more music. Thanks to new found friends, and special thanks to Anvi AKA Bugs for pulling me into a black hole of music. I guess that how this blog started as well, we exchanged enough music to want a blog. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">I am going to feature one artist and give a list of a few more of the beautiful sounds I have heard along these six months.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">I am in love with this band; it has grown on me like a creeper on an empty wall. The most interesting thing about this band is the way they use their instruments. I cannot say that I like one sound better than the other, because at every point in a song they wash over you like a new wave.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">I give you <a href="http://www.thejezabels.com/">The Jezabels</a>, an Australian band, which has won me over.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">I particularly love the drums; as much as I cannot pick an instrument, the drummer seems to form new patterns and styles as the song progresses.<br /></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">The drums sometimes hold you hypnotized to the track and the guitar comes in like a magic wand, the piano sounds like a rainbow and the voice like hope, with lyrics like a meal for the hungry. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">I have been addicted to their <a href="http://soundcloud.com/thejezabels">Sound Cloud page</a>, as I can listen to the songs without having to pause or change or wait. But I recently found their new album posted on Youtube. Here is the first song I heard from the album Prisoner; <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4Yd503ZWdo&feature=related">City Girl</a>. The rest of the songs are available on related videos, and it is my suggestion that you listen to all. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">After my over dose of the limited songs on the Sound Cloud page, City Girl was like I had found rain in a drought. Beautiful violin, signature sounds and surprises from the music, the drums especially; subtle kisses form the piano. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">However, I am going to leave you with a two of the songs that won my heart.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB2U4fA-xHk&feature=related">A Little Piece</a>. I have no words to describe the perfection that this song is. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ERVv1IIba4&feature=related">Dark Storm</a>. Another beautiful piece of music, a great intro, which keeps you hooked. This is a song where you must pay attention to every instrument; they come together in a perfect dance with her voice to hold your attention. </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">In short The Jezabels are fire, who feed the hunger we have for fireworks.<br /></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"><span style="font-size:100%;">You can connect on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter these details available on their website, which is linked. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">Are you familiar with those random moments when the sky is really blue and you're probably on the way to work or to meet a friend, and all of a sudden, you feel like smiling because you're just so content with your life? </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">That exact feeling is my artist of the week: <b style="color: #6aa84f;"><a href="http://www.bodhijones.com/">Bodhi Jones</a> </b>-<b style="color: #6aa84f;"> </b>singer, songwriter and busking artist from Canada<b style="color: #6aa84f;">. </b>It's a funny story, this one. When we started this blog, we wanted to introduce artists that had never been discovered but had raw talent that could not be ignored. I remember stumbling across <b style="color: #38761d;">Bodhi Jones </b>about 2 years ago. I do not recall how, but do remember waiting for my turn to introduce him to you and Treble Notes. Thanks to Twitter, I've had the chance to rediscover him. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I've realized that the music you listen to might remain the same but your perception of every song changes with the path your life takes. Which is why this particular artist has been on my playlist, consistently, for the last 2 months. While his voice is raw meets polished, his lyrics are soul hitting and honest. I personally find <b style="color: #38761d;">Bodhi's </b>composition quite unique but if I was forced to compare, I'd say I definitely find a touch of <b>Amos Lee </b>- another one of my most treasured artists. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I've been listening to two songs, consistently. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">The first of the two is my personal favorite (partiality? :)): </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #8e7cc3;"><br />

They've all been mostly pleasant experiences because I've been picky. But what struck me was that my taste in music is all expansive in that I can be </span><span style="font-size: 100%; font-weight: normal; font-style: italic; ">interested </span><span style="font-size: 100%;">by most types of music but to hold my attention takes a very specific type of sound. Dischordian, an Indian acoustic outfit that plays quirky alternative, slightly 'punk'ish, folksy music, has come closest to striking a chord (Pun patrol!) with my highly inconsistent taste in music. I guess it's because they have a little bit of everything I need, aurally speaking. </span><div style="font-size: 100%; font-weight: normal; "><br />I love that Garreth's voice is a razored stalk of rum tinged throaty heaven; it would have any normal Joe who took a stab at it clutching at severed vocal chords and coughing like a TB patient. But with him, it comes natural. And I love that.<br /><br />I love the lyrics. Indian bands will probably always have to be slightly anglicized and americanized but as long as the lyrics don't sound contrived, I haven't been a stickler for pronunciation. Dischordian kicks the shit out of that fine line and gives you something raw and amazing and you don't feel like a total tool, singing any of their songs.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">Album</span>: Feni Farm Riot</div><div style="font-size: 100%; font-weight: normal; "><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">Tracks</span>: 'The Old Whore' and 'Lover' are popular but I'm going to say - 'Scourge of Love', 'One of These Days' and 'Same Old Conversation'. </div><div style="font-size: 100%; font-weight: normal; "><br /></div><div><span style="font-size: 100%;">Be sure to check them out on </span><a href="http://www.facebook.com/Dischordian" style="font-weight: bold; font-size: large; ">Facebook</a>; they're quite entertaining, they are! ;)<br /><br /><span style="font-size: 100%;">Okay, that's it from me. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I started watching a movie called <i>The Romantics </i>around 11:42 P.M on what was supposed to be an exciting Saturday night. The script was morbid, forced artsy, the ending unclear. I was quite prepared to die of either boredom or frustration when I heard the beginning riffs to a song that would send me into a frenzy within the next 2 minutes for what I'm sure is going to be the rest of my life. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc;">Today, I introduce to you sexuality, talent, melody and </span><b style="color: #cc0000;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorene_Scafaria">Lorene Scafaria</a>. </b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc;">When I first heard </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000; font-weight: bold;">Scafaria, </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc;">to say I was mesmerized would be a gross understatement. An artist who combines satirical humor, love, defiance, melody and sensuality into her music, she brings an edge that surpasses rational thinking. </span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc;"><br />
</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">I am going to introduce two songs and move away from what is my norm by not only posting the link to the respective songs but also the entire lyrics. A seamstress when it comes to words, this is one artist who sews the feelings of empathy and beauty together effortlessly and with copious amounts of talent. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f4cccc; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">So without much ado, I introduce the first of two, a song that we can all relate to: </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><b><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oxSxUEmxAI">We Can't Be Friends</a></b></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;"><br />

Addressing the 'taboo' subject of a woman's personal exploration of her sexuality, this song is riddled with humor, sarcasm, honesty and of course, symphony. <div><br />
</div><div><br />
</div><div>No, not going to bother apologizing because as Shar so accurately put it - "If our blog were the Sahara, our posts are like oases - few and far between but definitely worth trudging through blistering, parched heat for." </div><div><br />
</div><div>I've been procrastinating and in the time that I have been doing so, I myself have traveled to the well-worn beaches of the beauty that is Gokarna, India. On this particular trip, within the lovely company and beautiful scenery, I would whip out my headphones and listen to the band that I am going to introduce today - A medley of tunes, techniques and sounds that transcends all urban genres.</div><div><br />
</div><div>Presenting to you, a duo that is slowly climbing up the musical ladder, <span class="Apple-style-span"><b><span class="Apple-style-span">PANTyRAiD</span>. </b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><b><br />
</b></span></div><div>A fabulously banging band formed by <span class="Apple-style-span">Martin Folb ("a.k.a MartyParty") </span>and <span class="Apple-style-span">Josh Mayer ("a.k.a Ooah"). </span>Crossing over various genres and combining the flavors of HipHop, HeavyBass, DubStep and IDM and combining them together with their key ingredients of "love and crunk", <span class="Apple-style-span">PANTyRAiD </span>brings in a heart-stopping, soul-pumping twist to urban music. As they accurately and wildly put it in definition of themselves - "<span class="Apple-style-span"><b>PANTyRAiD - </b>Audio Fondling Your Girlfriend."</span></div><div><br />
</div><div>Every track transcends into a different melody that mesh together to create not just 'another head-bopping' tune but a work of pure musical genius. The first song that caught my attention and remains my all time favorite is the sweetly flowing <b><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8dXYkc9xbQ"><span class="Apple-style-span">Beba</span></a><span class="Apple-style-span">. </span></b>A fabulous work of art that won't just make you move but will probably cause your heart to shoot straight down and back up again with every lift in beat and symphony. </div><div><br />
</div><div>Giving a definition to each song would be redundant in comparison to the experience of actually listening to them hence, I shall link you to my next 4 top selections and hope you take the initiative to explore, discover and rediscover the fabulousness of <span class="Apple-style-span"><b><a href="http://www.pantyraidmusic.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span">PANTyRAiD. </span></a></b><a href="http://www.pantyraidmusic.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span">(click to view Artist website)</span><b> </b></a></span></div><div><br />

So let me just say this,<br /><br />If our blog were the sahara, our posts are like oases - few and far between but definitely worth trudging through blistering, parching heat for.<br /><br />That said, here's the song I'm putting up!<br /><br /></span><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOGxT6aI-Sg"><span style="font-family:arial;">La Tigre - Fake French</span></a><span style="font-family:arial;"><br /><br /></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Tigre"><span style="font-family:arial;"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 300px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549836049295434642" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilJX5v9dSbwaH0S05QfnOrvSDU4HY4lV3pUVkhLJUT8PXqzxiVuWmKUnKIrtED2LvfVSbewdjfXK7xFFRuHZ1EKQOnKPs9yw9CfCIhBLqFBBVL452p6oQNjqs9yvgWv8XWqjofvJO9xLw/s320/le_tigre_le_tigre.jpg" /></span></a><span style="font-family:arial;"> To answer a lingering question (which to me is like an elephant in the room) we are <em>not</em> being lazy. We're introducing songs because we like um.<br /><br />Okay, so back to Fake French. Awesome awesome song by an average post-punk (to me), all-female, electroclash feminist band. I've had a listen to their album and as much as I'd like to say they were the find of this year...we'll they're not...but they're musicians with a cause and I like that about them. It's not all clashing symbals, making noise and screaming about insecurity; it makes them about something more. (Not to diss the bands who somewhat fit into that categorisation.)<br /><br />Fake French is one of those songs that you either like or you don't. <em>I </em>would rather just leave the description to that and usher you to the link below, but I feel I owe the song a little more considering people may just read my lukewarm sentiment and move on to something else, short attention spans that we nurture these days. If you listen to the song and then go check the </span><a href="http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Fake-French-lyrics-Le-Tigre/4E9222945341BA7148256C81002496E9"><span style="font-family:arial;">lyrics </span></a><span style="font-family:arial;">out, you'd be surprised (Read: I'd <em>like</em> you to be surprised). The bassline on this one has me from the get go. My shoulder start moving in imitation of some dance move I didn't know I knew! But more importantly, the juxtaposition of the mellow rhythm with the clearly strong lyric makes it feel like a little package wrapped up nice and pretty! I haven't taken a shine to any of their other songs because this one kind of built the band up a tad too much.<br /><br />Anyway, that's all I'm going to say. Go listen! Enjoy! And come back for more; we promise we'll be good little bloggers. :)<br /><br /><br /><br />(Image: Courtesy </span><a href="http://www.whattheballs.com/"><span style="font-family:arial;">http://www.whattheballs.com/</span></a><span style="font-family:arial;">. >D)</span>Wickedcookiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14090918744388921529noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-85636998640631731292010-11-21T22:49:00.000-08:002010-11-21T23:13:50.970-08:00french connectionhi All,<div><br /></div><div>hello, did you miss us? :P we have been away a long time, but we promise, this time we will update regularly :) today i bring to you a very talented french artist.<div><br /></div><div>the first time i heard this artist, i was standing at work when the office was half empty, it was dinner time. my boss, Dave, handed me his ipod and said listen to this song. and suddenly the piano played loud enough to drown me into a surreal sound of calmness, and smiles :) i was tapping my foot, smiling and everyone did stare at me. :P</div></div><div><br /></div><div>so here, i present <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C5%93ur_de_pirate">Cœur de pirate</a>, stage name for Béatrice Martin. she is one of those talented young ones that we are oh-so-very-jealous of. </div><div><br /></div><div>the first song i heard, that made me smile away to glory, even though i have/had no idea what she was singing about was <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaUI6Tvd1sA">Comme des enfants</a>. originally a pianist, her use of the piano in this song is just right, not too much, and not too little. her voice is soothing and you want to exploring her music. Dave also found me a remix of the same song, i think ill let you listen to that and let you form your opinion. personally i loved it, must listen <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWrU4We1Nq8">remix</a>.</div><div><br /></div><div>another must listen track is <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU_gA_zwCpo">Francis</a>. her voice and the piano are like a couple in love, and that makes listening to her that much more enjoyable. and knowing me, i always prefer the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0AXUw49MH0&feature=related">live versions</a>. this is where you can see her getting up close and personal with her music, her fingers dancing on the keyboard and she is adorable :)</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heI6UT55ZZ0">Pour un infidèle</a> features another beautiful voice of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julien_Dor%C3%A9">Julien Doré</a>, the mix of his and her voice is perfect. its a fun song and the video is made in b/w, with a feel of the Beatles-madness of the crowd. must watch/listen.</div><div><br /></div><div>here is the link to her website - <a href="http://www.coeurdepirate.com/">http://www.coeurdepirate.com/</a></div><div><br /></div><div>and lyrics in french - <a href="http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/coeur_de_pirate/">http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/coeur_de_pirate/</a></div><div>google translate should help :)</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>special thanks to David Oliver for introducing me to wonderful music. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>thanku for spending time to read, link up and connect.</div><div>we would like to hear your thoughts, so drop us a few comments :)</div><div>-Princess S/Krissy/Kris/Kristofer</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Princess Selenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04865097298962023954noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-47272734644298273222010-11-15T09:01:00.000-08:002010-11-15T09:40:54.613-08:00Flower Post 6<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Z8UBZC_uJWMlR1AbUwwVYBC4N25qTZADyx2Rh9W3vrUu3cK76gOM3Lzo1MuHou5JiRqfPDjzxwxLPMDFQxS7B2SsP-6Cn8nby40e5-7DEOmuxXZONrQFREDI77zfK0W5nQUWyvb_BSkI/s1600/Jack%252BJohnson%252B%252BBen%252BHarper%252Bbenjack.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 130px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Z8UBZC_uJWMlR1AbUwwVYBC4N25qTZADyx2Rh9W3vrUu3cK76gOM3Lzo1MuHou5JiRqfPDjzxwxLPMDFQxS7B2SsP-6Cn8nby40e5-7DEOmuxXZONrQFREDI77zfK0W5nQUWyvb_BSkI/s200/Jack%252BJohnson%252B%252BBen%252BHarper%252Bbenjack.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5539828818921200098" border="0" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:85%;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);" class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span">Ben Harper</span></span></span> and <span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);" class="Apple-style-span"><span class="Apple-style-span">Jack Johnson</span></span></span></div><div><br /></div><div><br />Hi....<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>.... I have deleted all her songs off my phone, stopped humming them every single second of the day and have quite frankly stopped liking her. Why put her stuff up here then, you ask? Well, in someone's universe she is still awesome and why, oh why, would I deprive you of some really good songwriting?!<br /><br />Anyway, Laura Marling is this incredibly young (read, she is younger than I. Born in the nineties, ferchrissake!) singer, songwriter from Hampshire, England. Her lyrics are just really simple and they're absurd in places but that just adds to their appeal. Plus her voice has just the right androgeny to it that you're taken by it. I was VERY excited indeed that I was going to see her live here in Bangalore and tottered off to Kyra all excited. And then these absolute gods by the name of Mumford and Sons come on and it's like going to see Ronan Keating, only Cat Stevens shows up! Mumford and Sons are an English folk/rock/pop group that are just really talented that you're left drooling by the side of the stage and you won't even realize until you have to mop up the mess you made and/or the set is over and you make a sound that's something between Jabba and Yoda.<br />They were both brilliant live acts and since they tour together, I'm going to </span><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-size:85%;">bend the rules a bit</span> and make this a duel post.<br /><br /><br />Linkses:<br />Marling<br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNxar07_9YA">New Romantic</a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XonJJbV54BE">Ghosts</a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djChY6Ol9ig">My Manic and I</a><br /><br />Mumford<br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_Od0PJp6GI">White Blank Page</a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL_zuWHrLdI">Roll Away Your Stone</a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLJf9qJHR3E">Little Lion Man</a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay1z1Z0p6Xg">The Cave</a><br /><br /><span style="font-size:85%;">Photos courtesy:<br />Villagevoice<br />bbc</span><br /></span>Wickedcookiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14090918744388921529noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-89229551684664953032009-06-30T05:18:00.000-07:002009-07-01T04:42:56.727-07:00heap it up<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtSsgh45KbCbMenDPzrKghFHT7r0Gx9UIRcxrhYZkALqYRtCp3t9MwTur9EqAjJNYQitXUdUkhThCcLIa26gsJAqSjTKGmBuWY_LNDMWtKIDmX_TQARj32ekMmoS6eqHj4eWkXvhQuNdI/s1600-h/Imogen-Heap-Hide-And-Seek-376495.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 319px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtSsgh45KbCbMenDPzrKghFHT7r0Gx9UIRcxrhYZkALqYRtCp3t9MwTur9EqAjJNYQitXUdUkhThCcLIa26gsJAqSjTKGmBuWY_LNDMWtKIDmX_TQARj32ekMmoS6eqHj4eWkXvhQuNdI/s320/Imogen-Heap-Hide-And-Seek-376495.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353097755076248722" border="0" /></a><br />helloooo, how is everyone?! hope all is well at your side of the world!<br /><br />i'm going to get straight to the music, i present to you <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imogen_Heap">imogen heap</a>. i realized that there are many people have heard of her, and many more who haven't! and the ones who <span style="font-style: italic;">have </span>heard of her and her music are big fans. her music is the addictive kind, and for me i get very curious about the music, the sounds she uses. for you to see why, you must listen to the song "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cpSv2mNhhc">hide and seek</a>". after i heard the song, i searched for its meaning. according to many websites, the song signifies a break up. after reading up and considering all the explanations i found, i agree. but its not a break up of lovers, atleast not JUST lovers, it could be the end of a relationship of any kind. sadness, anger, sarcasm, thoughts of wanting the relationship back, of discarding it for good; everything one feels at the end of the road, she says it perfectly in this song. i also found an interview where she says that she wasn't very happy that the world was loving this particular song which took her the least effort to make. imogen is known to use technology to her advantage, which she has done in "<a href="http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/lastkiss/hideandseek.htm">hide and seek</a>". a song she wrote and recorded with just her voice; the outcome of technological interference brings a whole choir to your ears!<br /><br />and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hide_and_Seek_%28Imogen_Heap_song%29">The OC fans might recall the song from the season finale when marrissa shoots ryan's brother</a>; they used the last part of the song, which seems so apt for that moment!<br /><br />i can't get over how perfectly the emotions are expressed in her voice, the sound of the song, the thoughts that race through everytime one hears the song.<br /><br />if hide and seek isn't your cup of tea, she has made more music to suit your ears; i'm sure!<br /><br />i have been crushing on someone for the past month now, but its evident nothing is going to happen there. now, you must be wondering why i am discussing this, there's a reason; because, i can't stop chasing, even though i know the outcome isn't a happy one! and the song "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9athUdhH40">good night and go</a>" connects to how i feel :)<br /><br />"<a href="http://www.metrolyrics.com/goodnight-and-go-lyrics-imogen-heap.html">why do you have to be so cute, its impossible to ignore you</a>". a must listen song, makes you sing along and smile at the wonderful combination of sounds and lyrics.<br /><br />"<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZEi4VjHES4">the walk</a>" is a soft, fast song. i know i've said this before: her voice and the music and the lyrics makes you want to keep listening. the best part about this song is, its fast paced, but soothing in a way. its gets you to tap your feet and take notice.<br /><br />she also collaborated with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Sigsworth">guy sigsworth</a> and made more wonderful music, they were called "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frou_Frou_%28band%29">frou frou</a>". they need a separate post for their music, but however, i'll include one song from frou frou called "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDiCr7BNVY4">let go</a>". a beautiful song, her voice is so exquisite; the culmination of the voice with the music is heavenly (this song is one of my favourite for the music used, the equation of the piano soundswith the violin sounds are perfect). the <a href="http://www.lyrics007.com/Imogen%20Heap%20Lyrics/Let%20Go%20Lyrics.html">lyrics</a> make the song worth the listen! "so just let go, let go, there's beauty in break down"<br /><br />one thing i have noticed about her music is that everyone i know, who knows she exists love her! you can't ignore her music, her lyrics, she puts heart into the music she makes!<br /><br />More to hear:<br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThZN70KNfi8">MUST LISTEN</a><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA8tlbIINgo">SPOOKY</a><br /><br />thanku for spending time to read, link up and connect.<br />we would like to hear your thoughts, so drop us a few comments :)<br />-Princess S/Krissy/Kris/KristoferPrincess Selenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04865097298962023954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-52622364588103879872009-06-18T07:31:00.000-07:002009-07-07T02:41:01.742-07:00Flower Post 5<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiesas-W7XS1gMbhAXBQ0JUCwitnH6o6g1ZA4D2TXJV365_isF5_FCWlDkWNYo6asbQGl2kGp8ZsOuRjb0DWoVFuGP6E1MNWlJH8g76ZXQniS3w2FbVFpln8u49qKuFb1Qc_sM-BWs2do6c/s1600-h/citizencope1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiesas-W7XS1gMbhAXBQ0JUCwitnH6o6g1ZA4D2TXJV365_isF5_FCWlDkWNYo6asbQGl2kGp8ZsOuRjb0DWoVFuGP6E1MNWlJH8g76ZXQniS3w2FbVFpln8u49qKuFb1Qc_sM-BWs2do6c/s200/citizencope1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348677406907321810" border="0" /></a><br />YippedeeDooDa!<br /><br />And as usual, I tend to be lazy.<br />No, no, my lovely readers, I have in fact been supremely busy with education. *vomit*<br /><br />But now I'm back and I am so supremely excited to introduce this new artist! He's quite obscure and oh-so-flowery-fields like!<br /><br />Introducing to you people: <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Citizen Cope.</span><br /><br />Clarence Greenwood, who goes under the pseudonym <span style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);">Citizen Cope</span>, is an American singer whose main genres are folk/blues. He's got a very unique and 'lazy' style of singing and more often than not, can make you swoon! (Definitely makes me swoon!!).<br /><br />The very first song that I feel is an absolute necessity to introduce is a beautifully put, satirical song called <a style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 204, 255);" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMy8lKG6Atc">Bullet and a Target</a>. <a style="color: rgb(51, 204, 255);" href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/citizencope/bulletandatarget.html">Words</a> that make complete sense only because they're a reflection of what secretly goes on through our minds flow in this song.<br /><br />Love songs are something Citizen Cope writes with a hint of irony and a very large dose of humor. While making you want to weep with joy, they make you want to laugh out loud only because they are so ridiculously brilliant. Combining talents with Carlos Santana can only give us brilliance like <a style="color: rgb(204, 102, 0); font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB5IPBeuHNo">Sideways</a><span style="font-weight: bold;">.</span> A song with a light lilt and brilliant <a style="color: rgb(204, 102, 0);" href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/citizencope/sideways.html">flow of words</a> that force you to feel. <a style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 204, 102);" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d4O02BJz74">Pablo Picasso</a> (<a style="color: rgb(255, 204, 102);" href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/citizencope/pablopicasso.html">lyrics</a>) is a song of (as expected) true love but so grounded in reality that you can completely relate to it. While it has nothing to do with the artist, it has everything to do with the art of loyalty and love.<br /><br /><a style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUfh5mbjjrw&feature=related">Son's Gonna Rise</a> is a catchy tune with a rhythmic beat and repetitive<span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);"> </span><a style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);" href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/citizencope/sonsgonnarise.html">lyrics</a>. It's the perfect tune to get you going and the perfect tune to get you moving.<br /><br />And finally, my Beautifuls, I am going to end with a song that is specifically for you all. <a style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255); font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNB7obFAdNE">Nite Becomes Day</a> is a tune that every one of us can relate to only because we think it and feel it. It's seductively alluring and brilliantly comical at the same time:<br /><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(51, 51, 255);font-family:Verdana;font-size:85%;" ><br />Things have been getting real heavy these days<br />The media the system<br />the people chasing pay<br />Somebody's got a rifle he won't turn the other cheek<br />Now its his turn<br /><br />Things have been getting real hectic these days<br />An eye for an eye<br />A spade is a spade<br />They're shooting him down and he's running away<br />That was their turn<br /><br />I believe in<br />The same thing that makes the night become day<br />Tide and the water<br />Sons and the daughters<br />Can't hide it can't fight it<br />Love<br />I'm a say it again<br /><br />It's the same thing that makes the moonlight<br />Meet up with the sunlight<br />Can't fight it can't buy it<br />Love... I'm a say it again<br /><br />When cut deep the same blood we bleed<br />We're not immune to addiction or disease<br />Got violent deaths in our family trees<br />Now it's our turn<br /><br />Things have been seeming real ready these days<br />From the North to the South to the East to the West<br />Happiness will you put it to your chest<br />When it's your turn</span><span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);">.</span><br /><br />Closing this post makes my chest feel tight only because I can't find words to explain the brilliance that is this man. It feels like a lifetime since i last posted here. Feels like I've lived one anyway! :) Hope you'll aren't puffer fish like me who bloat up with all consuming rage when you encounter this crazy heat wave thingy. Its better now so I decided to update Trebby! :)<br /><br />I was struggling with this because I had to choose between two really great artists but <a href="http://www.jayhawksfanpage.com/index.html">The Jayhawks</a> won! This band is just great! Their sound is laidback and they're all about the music which is something I love!<br /><br />The core members are Gary Louris and Mark Olsen. They've been around for quite a while now and they've evolved greatly from their country/bluegrass vein into something akin to alternative country rock I'd say :) There's something distinctive about them that I was drawn to. It could be anything from their simple lyrics to the...well <em>different</em> tone their voices take on together. Their earlier stuff (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP_ROIFMd08"><span style="font-size:130%;">I'm gonna make you love me</span></a><span style="font-size:130%;">, </span><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnEOuLfvrd8"><span style="font-size:130%;">Crowded in the wings</span></a><span style="font-size:130%;">, </span><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f3lYOPpnYY&feature=related"><span style="font-size:130%;">Settled down like rain</span></a>) sound a bit Eddie Rabbit-ish to give you an idea.<br />Anyway check um out pwease! :) If you're not a fan of the typical bluegrassy sound I'd probably advise you to limit your listening to a few songs from their old albums and the ones listed below from their new album Ready for the Flood because it can get a bit dry. But anyway, we recommend songs not the entire discography so here are the ones i liked. Not all acoustic unusually..but what beats two guitars and simple percussion eh?<br /><br /><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fs-5L6E8pE">Blue</a></strong><strong> </strong>(must must listen)</span><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6eMeHxmfJg"><span style="font-size:130%;"><strong>Bicycle</strong></span></a> (must listen)<br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnBfs8K1DNw"><strong><span style="font-size:130%;">Save it for a Rainy Day</span></strong></a> (Strangely Bharat Natyam is featured in this vid! hehe)<br /><strong><span style="font-size:130%;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84PAhWLaplc">You look so young</a></span></strong><br /><strong><span style="font-size:130%;"></span></strong></div>Wickedcookiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14090918744388921529noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-62044717274728695512009-03-02T05:48:00.000-08:002009-06-18T10:48:48.156-07:00musically inclined<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFcqMElpHQMejwK9E_daI7dYygM9qVLdKYoySmTYCnPTRPPuUu5iHlWzau1N6bWCpUnIft0wKpn48Cjy4YieTLxoxrstVTiixFcGDPTHSNQvtrghFKCdFC0dPMa1P7Kcxuf0FQSk3Q6PY/s1600-h/08_catpower_lgl.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 227px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFcqMElpHQMejwK9E_daI7dYygM9qVLdKYoySmTYCnPTRPPuUu5iHlWzau1N6bWCpUnIft0wKpn48Cjy4YieTLxoxrstVTiixFcGDPTHSNQvtrghFKCdFC0dPMa1P7Kcxuf0FQSk3Q6PY/s320/08_catpower_lgl.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308592814423489874" border="0" /></a><br />Hi all!!<br />how's the summer treating you?? hope you aren't melting away into the heat! hope you have found some sultry love this year! :)<br /><br />today i introduce to you <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_power">cat power</a>. she has been around for a long time, i can't believe i never came across her earlier. i have been in a some what sultry, romantic, silent mood. an appropriate song is <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6tg0DOdkeU">remember me</a>. her voice is SULTRY. inviting. romantic. beautiful. she plays the piano and it feels like time has stopped! yes, i am known to be a little exaggerating!<br /><br />my favourite one is <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbMeAOTPJzM">sea of love</a>. i remember this so clearly now. while its playing. it was featured in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juno_%28film%29">juno</a>. it is but amazing that i found this song during my search for treble notes! the song is so real, so captivating. i am moved to feel so many emotions all at once when i hear this song!<br /><br />last but not the least i give to you <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJfQXS1hKDo">the greatest.</a> this is a perfect one to end the reign of cat power here! Not at all. But recently, for reasons unknown to me, i have begun to relate to trance and its repetitive rhythm. Every time i happen to catch a snippet of it i imagine a smokey club and light head banging and droopy eye-lids and other things i don't want to waste time mentioning.<br /><br />Well, Ladyhawke makes me feel <span style="font-style: italic;">that </span>in a very watered down way. Also, its great to listen to when you're in a 'mood'. When you don't want to exactly concentrate but want some music in the background that can't distract you but just melds into the surrounding. Not abrasive, not distracting, great voice that goes with the arrangements she comes up with. Definitely worth your attention. <br /><br />I'm listening to My Delirium as I'm writing this. Perfect writing companion! Also, I love the video(don't ask me how i can write and watch at the same time) . Its a watermark sort of video that features paintings by a certain lady. Ok, this is the third time i'm listening to it and its growing on me. Many things happening (including laziness!).<br /><br />So, this time I'm going to introduce a fairly new artist who has totally taken the world by storm with her 50's jazzy tunes and brilliant lyricism -- <span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Duffy.<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Aimee Ann Duffy </span></span></span>was born on June 23rd (Cancerian, like me!) and is a Welsh singer/songwriter. In 2008, she debuted with her ridiculously famous debut single, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2orthS3TQ"><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 102, 0);">Mercy.</span></span></a><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2orthS3TQ"><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 102, 0);"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span></span><span style="color: rgb(255, 102, 0);"></span></span></a> </span>This song took the world by storm because of the upbeat melody, 50's style tune and theme and the <a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/duffy/mercy.html"><span style="color: rgb(255, 102, 0);">soulful lyrics. </span></a><br /><br />The second song released was <a style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 204, 0);" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhZ5-L9znt8">Warwick Avenue</a>, a song filled with <a style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);" href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/duffy/warwickavenue.html">pain and emotion</a>.<br /><br />Now, the reasons I am introducing Duffy on Treble Notes are the following three songs.<br /><br />1) <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHvOm-o3AA8"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(102, 0, 204);">Stepping Stone,</span> </a>a song of mild rebellion about breaking free. The tune makes you sing along and immediately captivates you. <a style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);" href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/duffy/steppingstone.html">The lyrics</a> makes sense to anyone whose been through love at least once. =)<br /><br />2) This song is called <a style="color: rgb(255, 255, 102); font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fawOrelje7k&feature=channel">Syrup & Honey</a> and is as sweet as the title suggests. It is the slowest of the lot and has a deep yet easy tune. <a style="color: rgb(255, 255, 0);" href="http://www.sweetslyrics.com/563669.Duffy%20-%20Syrup%20and%20Honey%20.html">The song</a> is perfect for a Sunday morning or for one of those moments when all you want is time alone with a coffee and your thoughts.<br /><br />3) The last of the lot ( and my personal favorite) is called <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOzzsQp5k5M"><span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 102, 255);">Distant Dreamer.</span> </a>Someone told me that this song describes me perfectly and could not have agreed more. The song leaves you swaying and thinking. The thoughts are perfectly put across through almost <a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/duffy/distantdreamer.html"><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);">surreal lyrics</span>. </a><br />I foresee this song to be a brilliant hit!<br /><br /><br />And I officially come to the end of this post. I sincerely hope you enjoy these songs and the artist. It might take a little getting used to in regards to <span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">Duffy</span>'s voice but it's absolutely worth it!<br /><br />Keep a look-out for Kristofer's post, which is up next. It's sure to hold something interesting as usual!<br /><br />Till later,<br />Peace and much love,<br />- Tups.Noopur Vasurajhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11314573035758748908noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-17646134021326865862008-10-15T21:08:00.000-07:002008-10-15T22:05:11.888-07:00Chuck the thirdWell, chuck is in love with "Love love love". I heard this song ages ago during one of my frantic jaunts for good music and i loved this one song so much! I've been saving it for a special day on treble notes and here it is! :)<br />At first I'd have said that Tristan Prettyman is pretty much the female version of Jack Johnson. But then i think that's degrading her own potential and talent so i'll just say that;<br />she has an awesome voice-sultry and raspy in the right places,<br />the girl can play guitar-effortlessly (that's how i like it!),<br />and her lyrics are worth a read.<br /><br />The first song i heard that had tristan in it was "<span style="font-size:180%;"><a href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=N3aaxVGFIf8">Beautiful</a></span>". Its a collab with another funky indie artist called G.Love (another post!). Now this song is just perfect! Its one of those songs that you love every part of! Nothin untoward, nothing that doesn't fit. And the lyrics are just so quirky but mushy...teehee! I love the video as well! Five stars! And a thumbs-up for good measure!<br /><br />And since this post is about Tristan prettyman ima put up my favourite song of hers:<br />Love Love Love. Its difficult to describe why i like her music. There's just some music that gives you this feeling, you know. Like you're heart is swelling up with something (emotion? arteries? FAT?), i dunno. Its nice. Give it a listen. I've got two links, an acoustic version and the official video. Contrary to my usual choice, i like the studio version better.<br /><span style="font-size:180%;"></span><br /><span style="font-size:180%;">Love Love Love</span><br /><a href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=qNPP-sYv01M">Acoustic</a><br /><a href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=g41w9n4ljW8">Studio</a>Wickedcookiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14090918744388921529noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-83771378676984721542008-10-08T06:08:00.001-07:002008-10-08T09:48:24.903-07:00day 3 for zero 7 (forgot to publish, sowie)hello happy people!<br /><br />today's musical-people are "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_7">Zero 7</a>"<br />really mellow and soft voice, lounge feel to it.<br /><br />wikipedia says they fall into the acid jazz genre. honestly i have no idea what that means, all i know is that it sounds wonderful and pulls through with a sense of a free fall.<br /><br />of course also the occasional high feeling from the music.<br /><a href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=INn1C6ImJKg">Destiny </a>and <a href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=pT8Wz1fa-_4">Home </a>are the 2 songs i am introducing, both soft, beautifully composed songs.<br /><br />the lyrics are perfect for the voice and the sound of the music.<br />the video for destiny is also creatively made, animated and perfect for the lyrics and sound.<br /><br />now ill let you take a listen and give your reviews :)<br /><br />thanku for spending time to read, link up and connect.<br />we would like to hear your thoughts, so drop us a few comments :)<br />-Princess S/Krissy/Kris/Kristofer<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 102, 204);">Lyrics for Destiny</span><br /><br />I lie awake<br />I've gone to ground<br />I'm watching porn<br />In my hotel dressing gown<br />Now I dream of you<br />But I still believe<br />There's only enough for one in this<br />Lonely hotel suite<br /><br />The journey's long<br />And it feels so bad<br />I'm thinking back to the last day we had.<br />Old moon fades into the new<br />Soon I know I'll be back with you<br />I'm nearly with you<br />I'm nearly with you<br /><br />When I'm weak I draw strength from you<br />And when you're lost I know how to change your mood<br />And when I'm down you breathe life over me<br />Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny<br /><br />On a clear day<br />I'll fly home to you<br />I'm bending time getting back to you<br />Old moon fades into the new<br />Soon I know I'll be back with you<br />I'm nearly with you<br />I'm nearly with you<br /><br />When I'm weak I draw strength from you<br />And when you're lost I know how to change your mood<br />And when I'm down you breathe life over me<br />Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny<br /><br />When I'm weak I draw strength from you<br />And when you're lost I know how to change your mood<br />And when I'm down you breathe life over me<br />Even though we're miles apart we are each other's destiny<br /><br />I'll fly, I'll fly home<br />I'll fly home and I'll fly homePrincess Selenehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04865097298962023954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-26985637083091107562008-10-05T21:37:00.000-07:002008-10-16T00:17:40.889-07:00Flower Post 2<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://assets.mog.com/pictures/wikipedia/146336/Dispatch-band.PNG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px;" src="http://assets.mog.com/pictures/wikipedia/146336/Dispatch-band.PNG" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Hey hey hey!<br /><br />I know it's been a while since I've updated this page with some of my influence but I can see that Kristofer and Shar have done their own share of sharing! (Ha ha =))<br />Some lovely music has been introduced and now its my turn to do the same!<br /><br />My latest pick is an American jam band called <span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispatch_%28band%29">Dispatch.</a> </span></span></span><br /><br />Dispatch was formed in 1996 and were active till 2002. It consisted of three members:<span style="color: rgb(51, 204, 0);"> Brad Corrigan</span> (<span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span></span>vocals, drums, guitar, percussion and harmonica), <span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">Pete Heimbold</span> (vocals, <span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span></span>bass and guitar), and <span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 0);">Chad Urmston</span> (vocals, guitar, bass, and percussion). Between the three of them, Dispatch has got an amazing variety of genres; from reggae (which is largely incorporated into their songs) to folk to ska to rock to hip-hop.<br /><br />The first song that I was introduced to was called <a style="color: rgb(255, 102, 0);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=ystQxu34CQg"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Bang Bang.</span></a> The song follows an easy tune and a <a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/bangbang.html">wonderful story</a> with a catchy end. The singer seems to have a slight teasing tone that can't do anything but make you smile.<br /><br />Dispatch also explores realms of love and pain in their songs.<br /><a style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=TapPY1mQKeY"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Headlights</span></a> is a song <a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/headlights.html">soulfully</a> sung to a lover. A plea of sorts that makes your heart ache.<br /><br />And then *drumrull* we have <a style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=jxbFV0Qao7I&feature=related"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Carry You</span></a>.<span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span> This song is more <a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/carryyou.html">wistful</a> and makes you sway along. Simple and short, it takes you into your own world.<br /><br />One of my personal favorites is a song with a strong African-Folk influence called <a style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 153, 0);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=ljVR3Bodxmw">Elias.</a> There happens to be an <a href="http://www.lyricskeeper.com/dispatch-lyrics/130875-elias-lyrics.htm">amazing story</a> behind this song. Dispatch has a non-profit organization, The Elias Fund<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>, for the Zimbabwaen youth in regards to education<span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 0);"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"></span></span>. The idea came about in 1994 when <span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 0);">Chad Urmston </span>stayed in Zimbabwe for a while and met Elias, a gardener who became the inspiration and namesake to this particular song. Elias dreamed that his sons, Honest and Manuel, would one day have the opportunity further their education. This dream became the corner stone of the Elias fund and of the beautiful and most popular song by Dispatch.<br /><br />I'm going to end this post with this song and story and hope you enjoy this band! Easy listening, soulful music, wistful pleas and inspirational stories packed into one band!<br /><br />P.S. Also check out their other songs such as <a style="color: rgb(102, 0, 204);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=ki-RtgYHXI8"><span style="font-weight: bold;">The General</span></a> (<a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/general.html">lyrics</a>), <a style="color: rgb(255, 102, 102);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=7BRcSH7uTKE"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Flying Horses</span></a> (<a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/flyinghorses.html">lyrics</a>), <a style="color: rgb(255, 204, 51);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=mmSi_XGiVAE"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Passerby</span></a> (<a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/passerby.html">lyrics</a>) and <a style="color: rgb(0, 102, 0);" href="http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=dhxoHmbUGR8"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Out Loud</span></a> (<a href="http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/dispatch/outloud.html">lyrics</a>) to name a few!<br /><br />Enjoy yourselves and keep things happy!<br /><br />Peace and much love<br />-TupsNoopur Vasurajhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11314573035758748908noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6906650559616151059.post-88298427623869455382008-09-29T09:13:00.000-07:002008-10-16T00:17:48.431-07:00Chuck the SecondI hope you'll like the title i have come up with. On the spot. Please like it. Thinking about thinking of another makes me tired. In the (slightly altered) words of PCD..."I'ma stick with iiitttt!"<br />So...on to the latest song for Treble Notes...Someone new! At least to me! A new love!<br />His name is <span style="font-family:georgia;color:#ffffff;"><strong>Brett Dennen</strong></span> and he's the next big thing in the folk rock scene I ( and a LOT of other people) think! He bolwed me over completely! His voice is a little on the reedier side than i usually prefer but he just makes up for it in every other way....AWESOMENESS includes:<br /><span style="color:#cc33cc;">Guitaring skills</span><br /><span style="color:#cc33cc;">Lyrics</span><br /><span style="color:#cc33cc;">A funky accent </span><br />The first song that I shall recommended is called <a href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx_CD64zSrw"><span style="font-size:180%;">She's Mine.</span></a> And its pretty darn awesome(all other adjectives fail at this point). Its an acoustic as usual..<br />Check out his other songs...one being <a href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=amwVyRH2B8A"><span style="font-size:180%;">Ain't No Reason</span></a>(for the lyrics!) Very very cool!<br />Ain't No Reason is the better song in every way but She's Mine is catchier and has an awesome base riff that just repeats throughout the song-simple n sweet.<br />More than anything else, i love how this guy looks at the world around us and critiques what goes on in it in the most humble way possible. He writes a bit like Mayer or Jack Johnson but his stuff is tinged with a <em>tad</em> more social concern.<br />Another song is <a href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=w0l8f27jVUA"><span style="font-size:180%;">Blessed...</span></a>i LOVE the beginning of this song. Upbeat!<br />And i also have another video which is live and raw, on a beach somewhere in SF or was it California...Doesn't matter. Here, its John Butler (Awesome musician also. Shall devote whole post to him another time) and Brett Dennen performing <a href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=odkVmThn8b8"><span style="font-size:180%;">Come Together</span></a><span style="font-size:180%;">.<br /></span>Enjoy! And comment :)Wickedcookiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14090918744388921529noreply@blogger.com3
